Alfresco website and email down

November 18th, 2007 · 14 Comments

We have been experiencing problems with our registrar and DNS.  It is in the process of being resolved.

If you need/want to get hold of someone at Alfresco.  You can use @alfresco.org as the domain for email.

All of our sites are available through their IP addresses:

  • http://www.alfresco.com  - please use http://88.208.218.102/
  • customers.alfresoco.com and partners.alfresco.com -  please use http://88.208.200.70/alfresco/
  • forums.alfresco.com  - please use http://217.174.252.22/

I really can’t think of anything worse that can happen to a company that depends on the internet for their business.  Please bare with us as we get this fixed.  Changes are underway to make sure this won’t happen to us again.

We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience this has caused our customers and potential customers.

What is the ip adr for alfresco.org. I want to get the following url:

    http://www.alfresco.org/help/webclient

forums.alfresco.com is located at the same IP that you are trying to get to. If you, temporarily add the following to your hosts file you should be able to get to them.

    217.174.252.22 dev.alfresco.com
    217.174.252.22 wiki.alfresco.com
    217.174.252.22 forums.alfresco.com
    217.174.252.22 issues.alfresco.com

(www.alfresco.org points at dev.alfresco.com, which has now been combined with wiki.alfresco.com. So you are ultimately trying to get to wiki.alfresco.com)

Alfresco Content Community registration hasn’t been working since 2 days ago. Can register any account - kept getting “Could not create account:” message. It may or may not be related to the domain name resolution. I suggest you check it out as soon as possible. The login to Alfresco Content Community was also down since 2 days ago.

I have been unable to create an account successfully at Alfresco Content Community for the past 2 days. Kept getting the error “Could not create account:”. Would appreciate if you can check this out and advise. The login for Alfresco Content Community has not been available for the past 2 days, even before Alfresco.com was unresolvable. Thanks.

Luckily I found this article. I try to reach Alfresco the whole day.

Is there a estimate as to when this problem will be resolved?

I am trying to convince my company that spending 1M on a commercial closed source product is a waste of good money.

The first thing management is going to want to do, after I demo a working version of this product is to look at the Alfresco web site.

Getting your registrar’s home page instead of the Alfresco website is only going to prove the alarmist arguments of the close-source lemmings (no one ever got fired for buying MS) I have to deal with on a regular basis.

@B we should be up again. Can you try again? DNS may not have made it all around the world yet.

@Thomas Can you try again now that the servers are up again? If it still does not let me know and I will put you in touch with someone who can help you get registered.

Just heard about Alfresco and wanted to check it out, but can’t get to alfresco.com today. Spotted your blog via Google, and tried the suggested IPs but none worked. The connections seem to be timing out…
    Any ideas why?

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/04/15/fasthosts_dedicated_snafu/ They should be back now. I don’t know what more evidence we need that we need to switch hosts. :(
